2nd Baron Howard de Walden
Son of Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk, and Katherine Knyvett. Paternal grandson of Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk, and the Honourable Margaret Audley. Maternal grandson of Sir Henry Knyvett and Elizabeth Stumpe.
He married Lady Elizabeth Home, daughter of the 1st Earl of Dunbar, in March 1612. They were parents to nine children. Three of his sons succeeded as Earl of Suffolk, while his daughters were the Countess of Newburgh, the Countess of Northumberland and the Countess of Orrery.
Among his grandchildren are the 6th Duke of Lennox, the 11th Earl of Northumberland, the 2nd Earl of Orrery, the 1st Earl of Portland, the Countess of Inchiquin, the Countess of Breadalbane and Holland and the 1st Earl of Jersey.
The 2nd Earl of Suffolk is buried in the Howard Vault. The vault, now completely bricked in, was closed in 1860.
