Suggested edit: Rev. John "Jack" F. Anderson, 88, of New London died on Thursday morning, May 26, 2011, at Koronis Manor in Paynesville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Hope Presbyterian Church in rural Spicer. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in New London. A visitation will be held on Monday night from 5-7:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home in New London and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

John "Jack" Flagstad Anderson was born on September 18, 1922, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Jack and Anna (Flagstad) Anderson. In 1940, he graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. Jack went onto the University of Minnesota where was on the football team in 1940 and 1941. In 1943, Jack joined the United States Army Engineers in 1943 and served his country in SW Pacific during WWII. Jack was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946.

After serving in the military, Jack returned to the University of Minnesota where he graduated with a degree in forest management in 1948. He worked in the forestry department of Weyerhaeuser Timber Company in Washington and Oregon. Jack felt called to the ministry in 1952 and studied at Multnomah Bible College, San Francisco Theological Seminary, and Dubuque Theological Seminary. Jack went to work for the Board of National Mission of the Presbyterian Church. His title was "Logging Camp and Sunday School Missionary." This was in the big woods of Washington, Oregon, and Alaska.

Jack married Delila (Dee) Spory on May 10, 1958, in Sutter, Illinois. They made their home in Kelso, Washington for two years. They then moved to Alaska in October of 1960 where they were missionaries of the Mission Vessel Anna Jackman; working out of Ketchikan, Petersburg and Craig, Alaska for seven years. They came back to the lower 48 where they pastured churches in Bigfork and Effie, MN; Groton, SD; and Rushmore, MN. Pastor Jack retired in 1987. They then moved to New London to assist at Hope Presbyterian and as Chaplain at GlenOaks Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Joyce Goetsch.
