Born August 15, 1923, in Frankland County, Charlene was the daughter of the late the Gettis and Roba Rich. She moved to Hamlin in 1933 and married Joe Bonds, Jr. on March 3, 1940, in Aspermont, Texas.
Charlene owned and operated Charlene's Cut and Curl in Hamlin for five years. She was a charter member of the Hamlin Hospital Auxiliary "Pink Ladies", an active member of the of North Central Baptist Church until her illness and a member of the Hamlin Art Club. Charlene enjoyed painting and going fishing.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Joe Bonds, Jr., two grandsons, Ricky and Terry Joe Lawlis, one brother, three sister-in-laws and two brother-in-laws.
Charlene is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jolene and Joe Allen Dean of Hamlin; two brothers, Buster Rich and Bobby Rich (and wife, Jean); one sister, Martha Lynn Phillips (and husband, Tommy); two adopted children, James and Carolyn Clawson; step-grandchildren, Carol and Barry Fields and Connie Jo and Robert McLain; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; nine nephews, two nieces; and special friend, Liz Meroney.
