Eli Wright, son of Philburt and Mary (Sears) Wright, and the grandson of Richard Wright Sr., was b. in Rowan Co., N.C. He came with his parents to what is now Washington Co., Ind. in 1809. He was married in Clark Co., Ind. on Feb.
11, 1819 to Elizabeth Bower, daughter of Adam and Julie Ann (Harmon) Bower, b. Sept. 26, 1791 in Rowan Co., N. C. Adam Bower moved to Clark Co., Ind. in 1811. His wife d. in 1807, probably in N. C.

Eli and his wife settled on a farm two miles south of Salem, Ind. immediately after marriage. He built one of the first mills in Washington Twp. in about 1821 which was known as Wrights Old Water Mill. In 1840, a sash saw mill was added and it did a good business for many years. Eli was very successful in business and they (his family) were among the very best citizens of the community. Mrs. Wright was a member of the Church of Christ at Blue River.

Eli Wright died of Cholera June 14, 1833.

Elizabeth (Bower) Wright died of Tuberculosis, March 31, 1847.

They were both buried in Philburt Wright Cemetery. Their Children;

4-2 Adam Harvy Wright, b. Oct. 12, 1823, d. July 25,1901.
4-3 Elizabeth Caroline Wright, b. June 14, 1828, d. Sept. 5, 1898.
4-4 Nancy Wright, b. 1830, d. y. [She died prior to 30 Jun 1835, date unknown.]
4-5 Philbird Marion Wright, b. Sept. 17, 1832, d. Oct. 14, 1920.

"June 30, 1835 - Solomon Bowers, with Evans Wright as his security, is appointed guardian of Adam Harvey, Elizabeth Caroline and Philbert Marion Wright, infant heirs of Eli Wright, dec'd." [17 July 2020 addition to biography by L. Standish]
