Immigrant, Samuel Pogue was born in Drumcarplin, County Cavan, Ireland. It is also spelled Drumcaplin. This neighborhood is said to be about five miles from the town of Cavan, Ireland. Yes, he was the "S" (for Samuel) in the fabulous department store, H & S Pogue, downtown Cincinnati. The "H" was for his brother, Henry Pogue. The critical early roles of their mother (born a Crawford), William Moore of Cavan, their Uncle John Crawford, and the Pogue and Jones firm all aided the immigrants' success.
