He and Katerina Peroutka married 6-Feb-1844 at St. Wenceslaus church in Novosedly, Czech Republic. All their children were born at Novosedly before the move to New Prague, MN in 1868. Three of the children died young in the Czech Republic.
Vaclav had a brother, Jakub Šírek, who also immigrated to New Prague. He had another brother Jan, who had a son and two daughters who immigrated to America. He also had a second-cousin, Frantisek Shirek (#91470424) who immigrated to Wisconsin about 1887.
