Clara Louise Judd
Social Worker Clara Louise Hooper Judd, whose notable career included social work, championship athletics and music, is dead at the age of 69. A resident of 7643 Forest Rd., Forestville, she died Thursday at Holmes Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Judd was the wife of William M. Judd, a retired loan company president who has served for the last 12 years on the Ohio State Board of Education.

Mrs. Judd, a Cincinnati native, attended Hughes High School and entered the University of Cincinnati at age 16, where she earned a degree in education and later attended graduate school. At age 14 and 15, Mrs. Judd (at that time Miss Zinke who was known by the nickname "Pete") was city tennis champion and was ranked 12th nationally. "Pete," a perfectionist, also excelled at lawn bowling in the 1950s and 60s and was, according to her family, expert at surf fishing. Mrs. Judd was a hobby pianist and performed for various organizations of which she was a member. She was pianist for junior choir at Anderson Hills United Methodist Church, where she taught Bible School. Also she held copyrights on two songs, "Rider's Lament," and "I Don't Know Why I Cry At Night." A social worker for most of her career, Mrs. Judd held several Civil Service positions with the Department of Agriculture.

Widowed in 1966, she became an admissions counselor for the. Methodist Home On College Hill, where she met her second husband who was a trustee of the home. Besides her husband, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard J. Vonderhaar; two grandchildren, and her mother, Mrs. Beulah F. Zinke. Graveside services were held Monday at Spring Grove.
