Daughter of Joseph Martinchek and Anna Bleha. Married to Raymond Fettig June 10, 1937. Obit: Edith S. Fettig, 87, of Petoskey, died Jan. 25, 2002, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Dennis Stilwell officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Edith was born March 29, 1914, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Anna Martinchek. She grew up and attended school in Petoskey, where she graduated from Petoskey High School in 1932. On June 10, 1937, she married Raymond Fettig in Petoskey. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2001. Edith was a housewife and mother to her children and loved working in her flower garden and baking. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She is survived by her children, Raymond Fettig and his wife, Jean, of Escanaba, Grant Fettig and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Grant, Mich., Dennis Fettig and his wife, Kathy, of Alanson, Steve Fettig of Petoskey, and Edith Lane and her husband, Larry, of Kalamazoo; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Grant Martinchek and Victor Martinchek, of Petoskey; and many nieces and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe, Art and Oscar, and a sister, Gladys Baran. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today, Monday, Jan. 28, at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Contributions in memory of Edith may be made to the American Heart Association.
