US Navy Peacetime Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, he served as a Ordinary Seaman in the United States Navy on board the "USS Trenton", 3,900 ton steam frigate. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at Toulon, France in February 1881. His citation reads simply "Jumping overboard, Davis rescued Augustus Ohlensen, coxswain, from drowning." His Medal was awarded to him on October 18, 1884.
