Opera Singer, Actress. White is credited with helping to launch the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera and played its first leading lady in 1938. She had a career on radio during 1935-41, also appearing in light operas and concerts in both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Occasionally accompanying the Los Angeles Philharmonic, she appeared in several operas – “New Moon,” “Naughty Marietta,” “The Firefly” to name a few. She was stricken with a severe case of rhumatoid arthritis that forced her to retire and eventually caused her death.
