Parents James and Sarah Sisson
Harriet Sisson was a niece of Colonel Jared Mansfield, the Surveyor-General of the United States, wo resided in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was at Mansfield’s home that Dr. Daniel Drake met Harriet. By the fall of 1807, they had married and moved into a two-story frame home on Sycamore Street. As his practice grew, they would escape the city for long walks in the northern parts of the city that were still woodland. In October 1825, Harriet died. She was laid to rest in the old Presbyterian Cemetery, which was not in the best of condition. Despite Dr. Drakes attempts to improve the old cemetery with the planting of trees and an iron fence, the place remained desolate. Harriet was removed and interred in Spring Grove in 1851.
