She was known as "Marie." She led a fascinating life. She worked in civil service for many years. During WWII, she worked rebuilding aircraft fighter engines. She lived and worked on four different U.S. Marine Air Stations.

She was married at least six times. I have tried to get the names of all of her husbands, and the dates she was married to them, but I may have missed someone, or made some errors.

On July 30, 1938, she married Jesse Carl Smith Jr., in Newport, Kentucky. He was 25 years old, divorced (from Wilma Holliday, and he had a son with her named Carl, born 1935). Jesse was from Covington, and he worked as a highway patrolman. His parents were Jesse Carl Smith and Fannie Austin. Marie's brother Leonard and his wife were present at their wedding.

She married Charles Bustle, but they divorced, in Cincinnati, in 1939.

She then married David Rice.

She married Charles Riley, in April of 1946. They had a son named David, around 1950, who would be her only child. But they had separated, sometime before April of 1950, when the Census Report was taken.

Shortly after that, in 1950, she married Paul Hockensmith (born 5-9-1927, son of Ben Hockensmith and Sallie Gray). Paul had served in the Army, from 1945-1946, and he had previously married June Kaufman, on 5-14-1949, but they had soon divorced.

Paul Hockenstein bought a duplex, located at 4632 Chickering Avenue, in Cincinnati, on 7-25-1950. So it is suspected that Marie married him, around that time. But they soon divorced, and Marie got the house in her name, on 8-4-1951. Paul had moved to Frankfort, Kentucky, by 1951, and was listed in the Directory there. It appears that Marie lived in that house, from time to time, and also used it as a rental.

In April of 1953, Paul Hockensmith was arrested for DUI, in Cincinnati, and he listed his address as 4632 Chickering Avenue, even though he and Marie had divorced by then. He married Joyce, in 1956, in Frankfort, Kentucky, but they soon divorced. He moved to Florida, and married Gladys Carrithers, in 1957. They later lived in Louisiana for awhile, but returned to Florida. In 1963, the mortgage company foreclosed on Paul's home in Florida. Paul and Gladys divorced, in March of 1969, and he married Minnie L. Jones, in April of 1969, in Florida. Paul died in Florida, on 1-14-1983.

And lastly, Marie married Ford Bustle (aka Henry Ford Bustle), sometime before September of 1955. On 9-19-1955, she put the house on Chickering Avenue into her new name (Marie Bustle). But Marie and Ford later got divorced. (He got remarried to Iva Beatty.)

Around 1970, she moved to Newport, Kentucky, to live with her son David Riley, who had moved back from Florida. In late 1980, her half-sister Callie Bach came to live with her, when she had become very ill. (Callie died in 1981.)

Marie later moved into a nursing home in Newport, which was the Baptist Convalescent Home (120 Main Street). She lived there until her death.

She had transferred the title of her house on Chickering Avenue, in 2003, to her son David Riley. He sold it on 2-8-2006, when it was apparent that her health was deteriorating, and she was in the nursing home.
