He passed away October 17, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years.
Gordon grew up in Rosedale and has made Pauls Valley his home most of his life. He served in the United States Navy and is a veteran of World War II. On August 2, 1947 he and Mary R. Mobley were married in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
He was a Building Contractor and was involved in building and working on many homes and businesses in and around Pauls Valley. He helped in starting and building the Pauls Valley Gun Club and Firing Range. Gordon was a member of First United Methodist Church and had served on the School Board for over 20 years. Most importantly he was a wonderful husband, father, and a very special "Pawpaw".
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Lucas; a daughter, Jennifer Lucas; his brother, Garner Lucas; two sisters, Juanita Adams and Ethel Coffey and a grandson, Connor Lucas.
Surviving family include his wife of over 64 years, Mary Lucas of the home; their children, Debra Dixon and her husband, Gerald, of Wynnewood; Fran Turner and her husband, Bill, and John Lucas and his wife, Ann, all of Longview, Washington; and Greg Lucas of Pauls Valley; six grandchildren, Matt Dixon, Clay Dixon, Andrew Turner, Ellen Turner, Madeline Allis and Garner Lucas; three great-grandchildren, Drake Dixon, Conrad Dixon and Deagan Dixon.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Mark Watson. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Interment and professional services are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
