Marshall was the son of John Allen & Mary (Bynum) Board.

In 1893 Marshall, age 19, married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Street Whitaker. She was five years older than him, which has been reflected in census records over the years.

On June 22/27, 1900, Marshall A., age 26, & Elizabeth S., 32, lived in Jacksboro, Jack Co, TX where he had a job as the Jailer. They had been married 7 years, & Elizabeth had given birth to 5 children who were: Ethel I., 6; Myrtle L., 4; Lula E., 2; & twins, Louis E. & Lois B., age 2 months.

Jack County's sheriff, David L. Carrey, age 47, & his wife, Lula L, 26, who had been married 1 year were members of their household. A prisoner who did day labor, William L. Williams, 20, lived with them.

On April 38, 1910, Marshall A., age 37, & Elizabeth 42, lived in Justice Precinct 8, Clay Co, TX where they rented a farm. They had been married 17 years; Elizabeth had given birth to two more children. Their children were shown as: Ethel I., age 16; M. Leona, 14; Lela E., 12; twins, Louis E., 10 & Lois P., 10; Marshall A., 8; & Clarice L, 5. .

In 1920 Marshall A., 46, & Lizzie S., 51, were buying a home in Justice Precinct 3, Jack Co, TX where he home farmed. Their children were Myrtle, age 24; Louise E., 19; & Clarice L., 14. Marshall's sister, Alice L. Reagan, age 61, a widow lived with them.

On April 15, 1930, Marsh A., 57, & Lizzie S., 62, lived alone in Precinct 5, Jack Co, TX where they were renting a home & Marshall had a job as a grocery store merchant.

Marshall died in their home from Pneumonia early in the morning at 6 a.m. on Feb. 26, 1932. He had lived 59 years & 17 days. Mrs. Ethel Wall of Newport, TX was the informant on his death certificate. He was buried the following day.
