Anson - Mrs. J. R. Devaney, 83, longtime Jones County resident, died at 3:46 p.m. Wednesday in Anson General Hospital after a four week illness. Funeral will be at 5 p.m. Thursday in Anson First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Hardage, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery under the direction of Lawrence Funeral Home. She was born Ada Victoria Hawthorne October 10, 1886 near Kansas City, Ka. She moved with her family to Jones County in 1901. She grew up here and married J. R. Devaney Aug. 16, 1908, in the Hannah Community northwest of Anson. The couple farmed all their married life in the Anson area until they retired. They moved to Anson in 1946. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Ervin (Velma) Krempin of Abilene; one grandson, Earl Krempin of Abilene; several nieces and nephews.
