SIMONA GARCIA

Rosary will be recited today at 7 p.m. at West Funeral Home chapel for Simona Garcia, 82, 404 Juarez. She died at her home Wednesday.

Mass will be said Sturday at 10 a.m. at San Jose Mission with burial to follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery. The Rev. Noel Kramer will officiate.

Pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Gloria Jean Mendoza, Sally Molina, Perla Granger, Priscilla Vasquez, Grace Rodriquez, Patsy Ybarra and Lisa Samaniego.

She was born in Mexico and moved to Presidio, Texas, in 1912 where she lived before moving to Carlsbad. She married Manuel D. Garcia in Carlsbad in 1924. Following their marriage, they returned to Texas, and came back to Carlsbad in 1928. She was a member of San Jose Mission and Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Survivors include her husband, Manuel, Carlsbad; a son, Lupe H. Garcia, Glendale, Ariz.; three daughters, Pamela Gonzales, Washington, D.C., and Lucy Griego and Emma Martinez, both of Carlsbad; a sister, Bessie Fierro, Alamogordo; 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
