GERMANTON – Mrs. Evelyn Sanderson Hampton, 67, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday morning, October 12, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center.
She was born August 23, 1944 in Robeson County to Ira and Nancy Jane Lowerly Sanderson. Mrs. Hampton was employed by the DMV at Walnut Cove License Tag and Collection Agency. She was a member of the Forsyth County Bee Keepers Association. Along with her husband, Rev. Darrell Hampton, she served Union Gospel Baptist Church for many years.
A 3:00 pm funeral service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Union Gospel Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Prevette and Brother Junior Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Sanderson.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Darrell Wade Hampton of the home; 2 children, Chris Hampton and wife Michelle and Rusty Hampton and wife Rebecca, both of Germanton; 4 grandchildren, Jessica Brown, Cody Hampton, Cheyenne Hampton and Kendle Hampton, and 2 brothers, Joe Sanderson and Dennis Sanderson, both of Pembrooke.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm, Friday, October 14, 2011 at Union Gospel Church and other times at the home.
