Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Denmark, he served as a Corporal in Company I, 22nd U.S. Infantry, During the Sioux Campaign on the Western frontier in 1870, Corporal Schou at his own risk carried many dispatches between commanders and Fort Buford. For gallantry, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on November 19, 1884.
