Amos resided at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Honey Brook. He was a dairy farmer for 30 years and later hauled hay and straw for farmers. He enjoyed taking his Amish friends wherever they needed to go and most recently took his horseshoeing friends around to the job.
He enjoyed pitching quoits, playing games, doing puzzles and watching the birds from his deck. He also enjoyed growing a weedless vegetable garden. He attended Rockville Mennonite Church for many years.
Surviving are: nine children, Mary Ellen married to Larry Nelson, Orlando, FL, Anna Mae married to Lawrence Carty, Willow Street, A. Kenneth Jr. married to Patricia (Erdman) Stoltzfus, Womelsdorf, Joyce married to Donald Horning, New Holland, Nancy married to Clair Smoker, Honey Brook, Lynetta married to Jack Snyder, Lancaster, John, Narvon, Barry married to Kristi (Walters) Stoltzfus, Willow Street, Judy Miller, Lancaster; 40 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Catherine (Hughes) Stoltzfus, New Holland; two sisters, Katie married to Marlin Burkholder, Harleys-ville, Sadie married to the late George Good, New Holland; two brothers, Jacob married to Sadie Stoltzfus, Honey Brook, and Jonathan Stoltzfus married to Lily Stoltzfus, Morgantown.
A son, Lester; and two brothers, Aaron and Elmer preceded him in death.
The funeral will be Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at 11 a.m. from the Rockville Mennonite Church, 210 Cupola Road, Honey Brook, PA 19344. Interment: Conestoga Mennonite Cemetery, Morgantown. The viewing will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 10-11 a.m. all at Rockville. In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to the Rockville Mennonite Church. Furman's – Leola.
