Actor. Born Hymie Liechtenstein in Dallas, Texas to Polish immigrant parents Frank and Lydia Liechtenstein. He began his career on Vaudeville but in 1939 he was one of over 120 little people who were recruited to appear in "The Wizard of Oz." He took double duty, appearing as both a Munchkin and a flying monkey. He continued a largely uncredited film career as a character actor and stunt double in such films as 1941's "Hellzapoppin," "Tarzan's New York Adventure" (1942), "The Court Jester" (1955), "How the West was Won" (1962), and "Our Man Flint" (1966). Between 1966 and 1968 he appeared in five separate episodes of the television series "Lost in Space" and in more than a dozen episodes of "H.R. Pufnstuf" between 1969 and 1970. His last appearance was a 1981 episode of "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" before retiring after a fifty-year career.
