Son of Troy and Amanda Ruth Metheny.

Husband of Kathryn Knight Metheny (predeceased) and Mary K. Metheny.

Father of J. Allen Metheny, Linda Legar, and Kathy O'Neal.

Mr. Metheny had worked for Paul Scotten Contracting and also worked for the State of Delaware Highway Dept. and retired in the mid 1970's.

He later worked for H & E Farm Equipment Co. in Dover, DE. He farmed in Hartly prior to those positions.

Mr. Metheny had been active in his community for many years, belonging to the Hartly Lions Club. He was a member of Hartly United Methodist Church where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Superintendent of the Sunday School. He was a member of the Hartly Kouples Klub.

He was a life member of the Hartly Volunteer Fire Co., he played the cymbals in the 1920's for the fire company band.

He was Trustee Ementus and served as a Fire Policeman for 15 years. He was a member of the Kent County Fire Police, and was the first paid employee as a janitor at the fire house and was known as "Pop" to everyone.

He was chaplin of Delmarva Firemans Association and was inducted into Delmarva Firemans Association Hall of Fame. He also worked for Frear Machine Shop many years ago.
