Ronald "Coach" Hebert was born on December 25, 1945 and raised in Orange, Texas. He passed away quietly in his home in Riverbank with his family close by on October 15, 2011. Coach has loved sports all his life. His father, Fred Hebert, coached him in little league with his mom, Benita Hebert, being his biggest fan. He played Pop Warner Football and High School Football in Bridge City, Texas. Coach enlisted in the Air Force after graduating high school and proudly served his country for four years including one tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon completion of his military service, he completed four years of college, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Masters in Administration. He taught and coached a combined 30 years of high school at Le Grande in Merced and Riverbank. He coached football at Modesto Junior College for 13 years. He's made many, many friends throughout his years teaching and coaching football and track. Coach Hebert is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 22 years, Joyce Hebert of Riverbank; along with the children, Gena (Scott) Buchanan of Riverbank, Kiki (Bart) Owens of Copperopolis, Rona (Krissy) Hebert of Sacramento, Sherry (Scott) Robinson of Manteca, and Linda Ricks of Atwater. He is also survived by his brother, Donald (Debbie) Hebert of Orange, Texas; sister, Rhonda Arrington of Orange, Texas; many nieces and nephews from California to Texas to Missouri. He is predeceased by his parents, and sister, Karen Crawford all of Orange, Texas. He was a devoted "Pops" to ten grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, age 20 months, and one great-granddaughter on the way. And many countless students he taught; coached and mentored throughout his teaching career. He made a difference in their lives as well. Coach Hebert's visitation will be Thursday, October 20th from 4-8pm with rosary recital at 6:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home (Riverside Chapel) in Hughson. Services will be Friday, October 21st at 10am at St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Riverbank, CA., with burial to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. A reception will follow at Living Grace Church on Terminal Road in Riverbank.
