U.S. Congressman. Born in Wellington, Kansas, he graduated from the University of Kansas, in 1926 and then moved to Oklahoma, where he engaged in agricultural pursuits and cattle raising. There he was as a president of the Northwest Cattleman's Association, vice president of the Oklahoma Cattleman's Association and was also director of the Bank of Woodward. In 1935, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth Congress and to the next two succeeding Congresses, serving until1941. During World War II, he served as a Major in the 1st Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps and was awarded a Silver Star Medal for his actions in the Pacific Theatre. After the war, he returned to cattle ranching and was director of the Bank of Woodward, until death at age 74 in Tijuana, Mexico.
