Obituary

Mrs. Saloma Kannmacher (nee Spittler) wife of the late John Kannmacher who died on the 14th day of Feb. 1890. Mother K. was born in Woerth Alsace, France (now Germany) Dec. 23, 1832 and came to the United States in 1853 and located in Columbus, Ohio. There she was married in Mr. John Kannmacher in 1857.

About the year 1859 the family moved to Clark county, Illinois and settled on a farm 9 miles southwest of Marshall, Anderson township, and has resided there ever since.

To this union were born eight children, one little daughter died when 8 years old.
On account of old age and general debility Mrs. Kannmacher lived the last 2 years with her children, at the time of her death she was at the home of her daughter Mrs. John Shatts.

She fell asleep in Jesus Sept. 13, 1909 at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 20 days. At the age of 16 years she united with the Evangelical Luther[a]n church in Alsace. She was a kind and loving mother to her children, a good neighbor, and was honored and beloved by all who knew her.

She leaves 7 children, 5 sons and 2 daughters, John Jacob, Frederick, George and Philip Kanumacher of Anderson township, Mrs. Newton Richart and Mrs. John Shatts of Clark county and two brothers, Frederick Spittler of Marshall and Gottlieb Spittler of Anderson township, and a host of other friends.

Burial in the Ziegler cemetery south of Marshall officiated by E.J. Nitsche, Evangelical pastor.
