Private, Company E, 7th US Cavalry. Killed in action during Custer's Last Stand by Sioux and Cheyenne Indians at the Battle of the Little Big Horn, along with most of the 7th Cavalry.

Born the son of John and Catharine Rees, in Washington, PA, where his father was a farmer. He enlisted on 5 December 1872, in St. Louis, Missouri, listing his previous occupation as Laborer. He had gray eyes, sandy hair, a fair complexion, and was 6 feet, 1 inch tall. He was killed on Last Stand Hill, along with all of the soldiers of Custer's Column, and was initially buried where he fell. In 1878, the bodies of the soldiers were removed from their field burials and reinterred in a mass grave at the top of Last Stand Hill, where his body remains today. He was not married. His mother received a pension of $12 per month until her death on 15 April 1887 in Jonesburg, Missouri.
