Luddy was born August 23, 1909 in Waterbury, the son of the late Morgan T. and Katherine (Luddy) Burke. Luddy was a graduate of Crosby High School and Manhattan College in New York. He was Captain of the Manhattan College football team in 1931 and played semi-pro football for many teams around the Waterbury area. Serving in the Navy in WWII he attained the rank of Lt. Commander and server on the Destroyer Connors in the Pacific. After WWII ended he entered the business world in the Outdoor Advertising Industry. He held positions as General Manager New York Metro for the General Outdoor Advertising Company; Ex. Vice President of Packer Outdoor Advertising Cleveland, Ohio; President of Big D Outdoor Advertising Dallas, Texas. Luddy ended his career as a partner in B&G Outdoor Adv. Dallas and San Antonia, Texas returning to Waterbury in 1985. Luddy was a communicant at St. Peter and Paul Parish in Waterbury.
