Corey Ryan Cook was born August 14, 1989, in Oberlin, Kansas. Corey passed away October 17, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, at the age of 22.

Corey lived in Oberlin while growing up. He attended Oberlin Elementary School, Decatur Community Junior High School, and Decatur Community High School, graduating with the Class of 2007. He furthered his education at Johnson County Community College, Colby Community College, Kansas State University, and the United States Air Force, earning an associates degree in criminal justice.

Corey was currently active in the Air Force. He served as an Airman 1st Class and was recently assigned to the 823rd Special Tactics Security Forces Squadron out of Moody Air Force Base in Georgia. Corey had also been stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. He had a great love and sense of pride for the Air Force.

Corey was a member of the Oberlin United Methodist Church. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing and hanging out with his family and friends.

Survivors are: parents, Todd and Crystal Cook, of Oberlin; two brothers, Dakota and Quinton Cook, of Oberlin; sisters, Shakira Cook, of Oberlin, and Victoria Meadows, of Summerville, North Carolina; grandparents, Ron Beneda, of Oberlin; Judy Wenger, of Oberlin; Mike and Ruby Cook, of Clayton; and Del and Stevie Bader, of Oberlin; great grandparents, Val and Phyllis Beneda, of Oberlin; Lawrence and Dorothy Wenger, of Oberlin; and Noreen Crabill, of Norton; aunts, Robin Hansen, of Ozawkie; Shannon (Chris) Werner, of Olathe; and Chantelle Beneda, of Salem, Arkansas; and uncle, Canaan (Amanda) Bishop, of Sanford, North Carolina; special girls in his life, Sarah and Lillyann Campbell, of Oberlin and a host of relatives and friends.

Corey was preceded in death by brother, Austin Lee Cook; sister, Lori Ann Cook; great grandparents, Cleta Wenger, Paul and Nan Cook, and Verl and Minnie Crabill; and Kendall Bader.
