Virginia M. Bushnell 90 of Mexico passed away peacefully in her sleep at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Golden Living Center-Pin Oaks.

Virginia Mae was born on May 11, 1921 to Lona Mann McDowell and Clark E. McDowell in Millwood Mo. She graduated from Silex High School and attended Kirksville State Teachers College , in 1940 she married Raymond O'Hanlon and had two daughters Becky and Janet. After Raymond died in 1955, she married Ralph Bushnell who carried on as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Virginia and Ralph were owners and operators of Bushnell Ford Tractor and Equipment Company in Mexico for many years. They had 35 years together until his death in 1990. For several years, she managed the Home Maid Shop on the square until her retirement. She was a member of St. Brendan Church.

She revered her family as well as the daily pleasures of living in the home she helped build 61 years ago. She loved the view of her 40 acres through her kitchen window where she watches the comings and goings of her birds and other wildlife. She fed her birds with passion and in her later years was known to hit a few squirrels over the head with her cane who were "stealing " seeds. When not outside, she enjoyed a good book and even more, a good country song.

She instilled a love of simple pleasures in her daughters. Becky Nunn McCabe and husband Bill of Edison TN. and Janet Gallaher and husband Jim of Jefferson City. Her treasured sister and brotherinlaw are Louise and Harvey Turner of Thompson. She leaves behind her neohew, who she considered to be a son, Phillip Turner and wife Brenda of Mexico. and her niece, Sarah Jesse and husband Stanley of Thompson.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren who refer to her as "Mim" Susan Pearl McCurren and husband Terry of Jefferson City, David Pearl of Washington DC. Jamie Gallaher and wife Amy of Jefferson City and Katie Gallaher Murphree and husband Brent of Lake Ozark Mo.

Mim cherished the times she got to spend with eight great grandchildren, Griffin, Jane Virginia, and Caroline McCurren, Hannah Pearl, Claire, Ellen and Will Gallaher and Matthew Murphree.

We will miss her, but will find solace in her favorite passage as she did. Be still and know that i am God" Through her example, she taught us to find a peace in our hearts and to reconize God's presence in all things.

A family celebration of her life .Burial in St Brendan Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to St Brendan Catholic Church.
