Martha L. McBride, age 89, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Sunday October 16, 2011, at the home of her son, following an illness.
Martha was born on January 25, 1922 in Parkville, Mo., the daughter of the late James and Lucy Gresham. She worked for over ten years for Sperry-Vickers retiring in 1981. She was active in Surviving Spouses and volunteered for Freeman Advantage and the Salvation Army. Martha attended Byers Avenue Methodist Church.
She married Daniel McBride on September 10, 1940 in Kansas City. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1994. Martha is survived by three daughters, Pat Coburn and her husband Clay of Sun City Center, Fl., Mickie Beisner of Nevada, Mo., Janice Bond and her husband David of Warsaw, Mo., one son Mike McBride and his wife Debi of Webb City, Mo. Thirteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. One brother Lawrence Gresham of Blue Springs, Mo. She was preceded in death by Three brothers and three sisters.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Max Raney will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the Mortuary.
