LIBERTYVILLE. - J.C. Ferrell, 86, died Saturday night at the Jefferson county hospital in Fairfield. He had been ill only 10 days, entering the hospital Saturday morning.

H was born on a farm near New London and lived in that community until 1901. He then moved to the farm three miles southwest of Libertyville, where he made his home for 58 years. In 1891 he was married to Anna Mallams, who died in 1952. Also preceding him in death were two sons, Wilbur in infancy and James in 1952 and a daughter, Mrs. Emily Laughlin, in 1942. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Harold Stump of Douds, Mrs. Charlie Stump, Mrs. Elsa Crawford and Mrs. Raymond Bonnett of Fairfield and Mrs. Edward Bonnett of Birmingham, and five sons, Frank of Davenport, Floyd of Estherville, Lloyd and Robert of Fairfield and Ivyl of Batavia. There are 42 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the New London Presbyterian church and a 55-year member of the Masonic lodge at Batavia.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 12:30 at the Libertyville Methodist church, conducted by Dr. Curtis R. Douglass of the Fairfield Presbyterian church. Burial will be in the Bird (Burge) cemetery at New London. A graveside service will be in charge of Batavia Masonic lodge. The casket will be taken to the church from the Pedrick funeral home Tuesday at 10:30.
