Joanne Garner June 21, 1937 - October 12, 2011 Graveside services for Joanne Garner will be held at Union Cemetery on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Joanne was born June 21, 1937 in Bakersfield to Glen and Helen Ware and she passed away October 12, 2011 in Bakersfield, CA. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John "Jay" Garner; son, Greg Garner; daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Dan Ramsey; grandchildren, Alix, Rhys, Nick and Rebecca and two great grandchildren. Joanne attended local schools and she graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1955. She was a stay at home mom until her children were in high school. She then went to work for Dr. Kirkpatrick for 10 years. She later worked for several years at Harris Department Store. She enjoyed researching her family genealogy and became friends with several of her relatives and traced her roots back to ancestors that helped found Delaware and Pennsylvania. The family would like to extend their deepest thank you to the staff of Optimal Hospice Care, who took such good care of Joanne, and a special thank you to Madi Elsea.
