Born in Maine, Lulu's family moved to Story County Iowa about 1856. Lulu was born while the family was visiting relative back in Maine. A devout religious woman she met and married a farmer John Mitchell Wills in 1895. Mother of 3 girls and 1 boy she went deaf while the kids were young. She lived with husband John and son John most her life. After the depression and dust bowl forced them off there Kansas home, they relocated to Longview, Washington. Lulu died 3 years after her son married.
