Mrs. Versie Pate Webb, a life long resident of Center died 6 p.m. Thursday, October 30, at her residence on San Augustine Street, after an illness of about one year.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Webb 2 p.m. Saturday in the Center First Baptist Church with er pastor, Dr. J.Carroll Chadwick officiating. Burial was in the Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was born August 26, 1909 in Center and her parents were J.R. and Mary Dockens Pate.

Mrs. Webb was a member of the Center First Baptist Church of which she was a member of the adult choir, a former Sunday School teacher and officer. She was a member of a number of Center civic and cultural clubs.

Survivors are her husband, Lomax Webb; two sons, Eugene and Steve Webb, both of Center; three sisters, Mrs. Bruce Tinsley of Kirbyville and Mrs. Harvey Pessara of Freeport; four brothers, Shelby County Judge V.V. Pate, J.O. Pate and Shade Pate, all of Center and Lonnie Pate of Anahuac and three grandchildren.
