Gertrude married Herman JAMES Bruney on 18 Aug 1916. She delivered the first of their ten children almost exactly one year later. They lost four sons at birth or in infancy and had three surviving daughters (G. Leora, Margaret, and Christina) and three surviving sons (H. Elwood, Harold, and Dewey).
Gertrude died four days after delivering her last child, a son who lived just two days. She is buried in Enon Cemetery, next to her husband James and near to her children.
