IRIS R. HOWELL
A memorial service for Iris Regina Howell, a longtime resident of the Gales Creek area, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Gales Creek Community Church of God. Internment was in Forest View Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Howell died of a heart attack Sunday in her home at age 70.
She was born Oct 21, 1923, in Pasco, Wash. and was raised and schooled in Monument. Her maiden name was Legler. She married Melvin "Bud" Howell on Nov. 26, 1945 in Carlton. Mrs. Howell was a homemaker. She had worked as a bookkeeper for the Howell Tree Farm, a family-owned business, for the past 48 years.
Survivors besides her husband include her son, Terry M. of Gales Creek; daughters, Regina S. of Forest Grove and Sherry M. Wolcott of Salem; brother, Glenn Legler of Scappose; and five grandchildren. Her daughter, Colleen Goble, died in 1974.
