On Sunday, January 23, in 1921, John Quincy Brewer and Elizabeth Augusta Fields Brewer welcomed their seventh child into their home on the Randolph and Chatham County lines in North Carolina, USA. Her older sister was named Pearl and they named this one Ruby...the next one would be named Opal...all the girls would be named after a gem.

On Saturday, July 31, 1937, Clinton Lee Brown, age 22 and Ruby Leota Brewer, age 18 were united in marriage in Matthews Twp, Chatham County, North Carolina. In time they were the proud parents of a son and a daughter.

Ruby loved to play basket and the reports were that she was very good at it...she gave that gene to her son and daughter, they loved sports.

She loved flowers of all kinds and every spring she would be making a trip to a nursery to purchase her supply. Her husband Clint was a farmer and he would help her plant whatever she chose.

She was an immaculate housekeeper and a wonderful cook. No one ever went to their house that they were not offered food of some kind...mostly deserts.

Ruby loved her church, Brush Creek Baptist and she supported it fully. She attended there for many years. She taught a children's class an extensive length of time and every year they could expect a Christmas gift from her...she had a caring and giving heart and did both for many people.

Ruby suffered from complications of Diabetes. She spent a lot of time in the hospital and had to do dialysis. Her husband and daughter went to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill to learn how to administer to her needs so she could be at home. But on November 7, 1988, she went to her eternal home. She was interred at Brush Creek Baptist Church...the church she love so well.

Ruby is survived by one daughter.
