John Taylor Remy was the third of ten (or eleven?) known children of Rev. James Cloud Remy (1784–1827) and Rebecca Adair (1786–1873), who married c1804 at presumably Franklin County, Indiana..

John first married to Nancy Jones (1811-1871) on 01 Oct 1829 at Franklin County, Indiana. John and Nancy were the parents of four known children, namely:

1. Calvin Jones Remy (1834–1917)
2. Alfred Harvey Remy (1843–1913)
3. William Henry Remy (1844–1912)
4. George Oliver Remy (1851–1937)

After Nancy died, John remarried to the widow Martha E. Robeson Carmichael (1842-1924) on 14 Nov 1872 at Franklin County, Indiana, but had no known additional children.

OBIT 1:

At his late residence in Hope, on Wednesday, August 10, 1898, John T. Remy, aged 88 years. Funeral Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Mr. Remy's son, Dr. George Remy, of Nebraska married a daughter of I. B. Barrett, whose death is also announced today.

OBIT 2:

John T. Remy, eighty-eight years old, an a pioneer of Bartholomew County, was found dead in bed at his home in Hope yesterday. He was the grandfather of Charles F. Remy, reporter of the Supreme Court. One of his sons is Dr. George O. Remy, of Nebraska, who married a daughter of J. B. Barrett, auditor of Bartholomew County, who was found dead in bed in this city, yesterday. A telegram was sent to Mr. and Mrs. Remy in Nebraska reading: "Your fathers were found dead this morning."
