Douglass attended the University of Wisconsin.

2nd Lt Douglass was a crewman on B-26B #41-17590, assigned to the 5th Air Force, 38th Bombardment Group, 70th Bombardment Squadron. They were flying from Nandi airfield in Fiji on a local altitude training flight. They had a mid-air collision with P-39D #41-7043 south of Itai Island. Both planes plummeted into the sea and all men aboard were killed.
