FUNERAL TOMORROW FOR ROBERT ALLEN
Nervous Breakdown Fatal to Former City Official and Realty Expert
Funeral services for Robert M. Allen, clubman, former city official and business man, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel of the George Fitch undertaking parlors. Rev. Baker P. Lee will officiate. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Allen died at the Clara Barton Hospital at [illegible] a.m. yesterday following a nervous breakdown and kidney complications. Mrs. Allen was in Chicago when notified of her husband's critical illness, but she reached Los Angeles before his death. Besides his widow, Mr. Allen is survived by a daughter by a former marriage, Miss Ann Allen, 15 years old, and his father, W. H. Allen, senior member of the W. H. Allen company.
Mr. Allen lived at 2125 Bonsallo street. He was a police commissioner during Mayor Rose's administration, and was candidate for mayor against Charles E. Sebastian and George J. Whiffen four years ago. He managed Mayor Snyder's second campaign for office.
As a member of the firm of W. H. Allen & Co., he was known throughout the State as an authority on real estate appraisals, having been called into many conferences by the Wrigley interests, several railways and also by the State. He was born in Indianapolis, Ind., in 1887 (sic), and came to Los Angeles at an early age. His marriage to Miss Harlan Struance a year and a half ago was one of the brilliant society events of the season.
Pallbearers at the funeral tomorrow will be Dr. Ralph Williams, Marshall Wotkyns, Walter Tyler, Judge Lewis Works, Charles Baxter, Philip Krubel and Robert W. Allen.
