This burial is in a small private cemetary not accesable to the general public. Mr. Robert(aka Bob)Henry is the first burial in Clay County North Carolina, with the exception of Native Americans. Bob is one of only two soldiers of the Revolutionary War known to be buried in Clay County, the other being Mr. Peter Ledford who is buried in the Old Ledford's Chapel Cemetery in the Scrougtown section of Clay County. The Inscription on Mr. Henry's tombstone reads as follows: "Robert Henry Born April 1765 Died Feby. 1863. Pioneer, Surveyor, Lawyer, Physician. He was also the first School Master of Buncome Co, and undoubtly the last of the Heroe's of Kings Mountain" Right alongside of and next to Mr. Henry's tombstone is the tombstone of my cousin Mattie Stillwell. There are at least 3 other older graves with unmarked stones next to these, as well as some spaces that are likely graves but have no markers of any kind remaining.
