Our beloved wife and mother, Ruth Lesley Thomas, left this earthly home and, after a brief illness, met with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2011.

Ruth was born on June 8, 1917 in Morgantown, Arkansas to Cecil and Bertha Lesley. She was the oldest of 9 children.

Ruth and Lloyd met in California during wartime. On February 7, 1946, Lloyd Thomas and Ruth Lesley were married and settled in Big Spring, to raise their family. The Thomas family were faithful members of 14th and Main Church of Christ. In 1995, Lloyd and Ruth moved to Midland to be closer to their children and joined the Fairmont Church of Christ.

Ruth loved to read. You would seldom walk in the front door when she wouldn't have a book in her hand. She also enjoyed putting Jigsaw puzzles together and would patiently search for the one elusive piece. When the Braves games were televised, she would stay up past her bedtime to root for her team, win or lose.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lloyd Thomas, who will deeply and profoundly miss his bride every day of his life. She is also survived by daughters, Elaine Wagner of Eureka, Mo; and Nina Thomas of Midland, son. Roy Thomas and wife, Maureen, of Fort Worth; 5 grandchildren, Luke and Adam Thomas, Matthew Greer, Fletcher Wagner and Sarah Greer Latch; and 5 great grandchildren as well as 3 siblings, sisters Maggie Greer of California, Pauline Tucker of Georgia and brother, Joe Lesley of Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 3:00PM at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland with Don Mitchell officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences can be made at: www.npwelch.com
