Born April 21, 1919 in Yardley, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bertram Starr and Antoinette Wojtarski Willitts. Formerly from Amsterdam, the family returned to the city in 1929. Eileen attended local schools and graduated with a high school diploma from the Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1937. Subsequent to graduation she worked for Collette Manufacturing Co., Robinson & Smith Laundry and Whelan Drugs. She was also a homemaker.
Eileen was a member of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, former member of the St. Ann’s Ladies Auxiliary and Choir Guild, the West Spring Street and R.J. McNulty Elementary PTA’s, and an Assistant Den mother in Amsterdam Cub Scout Pack 39. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and her interest and activities remained family oriented throughout her life.
On June 14th, 1946 Eileen was married in St. Ann’s Episcopal Church to Gerald E. (Jerry) Snyder of Amsterdam. After 35 years of marriage, he passed away on July 24, 1981. Survivors include her son, Gerald R. (Katherine) Snyder, Town of Amsterdam and her grandson, Michael J. Snyder of Waltham, MA and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam.
