NEW ALBANY – Joan Helen Davis Ball, 90, died Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Union County Health and Rehab in New Albany. Born on January 1, 1925, in Johnstown, Nebraska, she was the youngest of fourteen children of Henry Wilson Davis and Abbie Mae Martin Davis. She was a graduate of Blue Mountain College.
She was a retired fourth-grade teacher for North Elementary School in Savannah, Tennessee.
She served in Baptist churches as a pastor's wife for 58 years. She was a member of Glenfield Baptist Church in New Albany, where she served as Assistant Sunday School teacher.
Funeral services will be 11a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Glenfield Baptist Church in New Albany and 2 p.m. Thursday at Unity Baptist Church in Leakesville with Bro. Jerry Lowery and Bro. Lamar Chadwick Ball officiating. Burial will be at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by three daughters, Dr. Sharon Ball Enzor (Leon) of Blue Mountain, MS, Leona Ball Tapp of Jackson, TN and Silvia Ball Thompson (Bobby) of New Albany; two sons, Lamar Davis Ball of Savannah, TN and Jefferson Martin Ball (Vicki) of South Carolina; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lamar O. Ball and a grandson, Madson Lee Ball.
