Jonathan Stansberry Hook, Veteran of G. A. R. passed away May 22, 1916, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John J. Sparling of 932 Brice Ave., services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the daughter's home. Interment occurred in Woodlawn. Mr. Hook was a member of Mart Armstrong, Grand Army of the Republic, and that organization was present in a body. He was buried with military honors. Mr. Hook served in company I, forty-sixth regiment. He was born on January 27, 1844, in Franklin County and was a retired carpenter. Death followed an illness of two years from dropsy. His widow, two daughters and two sons survive. The sons are Jonathan Hook of Mendon, and Emil Hook, stationed with the United States army in the Philippine Islands. His daughters are Anna D. Hook Tamme and Myrtle Hook Sparling. He was predeceased by three daughters, Martha, Marietta and Nancy.
