"STONE SLOOPS OF CHEBEAGUE"
As a youth he learned the sea on his father's sloops, but he was a Sea captain and often took his wife along on the globe circling trips. His niece, Ada (Littlefield) Gowen, says that you never called him 'Uncle Enoch', always Captain Enoch. He was held in great respect because of his many long voyages all over the globe."
