MADISON - Mr. Robert D. "Donnie" Tuttle, 63, of 181 Laura Road, died Thursday, December 28, 2006, at Duke Medical Center in Durham.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 31, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Randy Jessup officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

Donnie was born on March 12, 1943, in Rockingham County. He was a 1961 graduate of Madison Mayodan High School and was retired from Unifi, Inc. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His granddaughters, Chelsey and Carmen were the light of his life. He was an avid UNC fan. He loved the family beach trips, fishing and golfing and also loved carrying on the tradition of dancing like his father before him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Garth and Juanita Via Tuttle; and grandparents, Robert Lee and Bernice Alley Tuttle and Sam and Fannie Massey Via.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Shelby Sands Tuttle of the home; daughters, Debbie T. (Bernie) Morris of Oxford and Julie T. (Jeff) Coleman of Sandy Ridge; granddaughters, Chelsey and Carmen Coleman; sisters, Carol (Danny) Moore of Stoneville and Renee (Kevin) Hazelwood of Madison; brother, Ronnie Tuttle and partner, Ken Woodyard of Madison; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Also he leaves behind, his little Jack Russell "Cassie".

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mayodan, 101 S. 1st Avenue, Mayodan, N.C. 27027.

Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
