Robert K. Freeze was born May 8, 1921, in Richmond, Virginia, the fourth of five sons of Henry Maynard Freeze and Mary Linnie Martin. He was twice married. His first wife was Lois Katherine Mumford, daughter of Carl E. Mumford and Maude Beard, whom he married on September 4, 1952, in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland. They were the parents of one son. After Lois's death, he married 2nd to Jane Grace Gooch on November 20, 1965, in Brilliant, Ohio. No children were born to this marriage.

"Robert K. Freeze. WADSWORTH---Robert K. Freeze, 61, died unexpectedly March 2 at his residence. Mr. Freeze was born in Richmond, Virginia, and resided in Wadsworth since 1953. He graduated from Springfield College, Springfield, Mass., and received his masers degree from Akron University. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, and a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He was an elementary and Junior high school teacher for 32 years, retiring from the Wadsworth School System in 1978. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Church Choir, the Ohio and the National Education Associations. Mr. Freeze is survived by his wife, Jane; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Thomas and Denise of Akron; brothers, Victor of Tampa, Florida, and Derrell of Takoma Park, Maryland. The family will receive friends at the Hilliard Cox Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 North Lyman Street, Wadsworth, Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to9 p.m. Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 146 High Street, Wadsworth, Saturday, 11 a.m., The Rev. "Mr. Robert K. Freeze. Word has been received here of the death of Mr. Robert K. Freeze, 61, of 737 Woodland Avenue, Wadsworth, Ohio, formerly of Thurmont, who died March 2, at his residence. He was the husband of Jane Freeze. Born in Richmond, Virginia, Mr. Freeze was a son of the late Maynard and Mary Martin Freeze. Mr. Freeze moved with his family to Thurmont at an early age and was known to many friends by his childhood nickname 'Zate.' He was a 1939 graduate of Thurmont High School. He joined the Army Air Corps, and was stationed at Wheeler Field, Hawaii. He was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack. After World War II, Mr. Freeze was graduated from Springfield College, Springfield, Mass., where he majored in physical education. For several years, he taught in the Washington area and during that time he married his first wife, Miss Lois Mumford, of Thurmont and Frederick. In 1953, they moved to Wadsworth, where she predeceased him in 1964. Mr. Freeze received his master's degree in education at the University of Akron. He was an elementary and junior high school teacher for 32 years, retiring from the Wadsworth school system in 1978. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and its choir in Wadsworth, and of the Ohio and National Education Associations. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Thomas and Denise Freeze, Akron, Ohio; two brothers, Victor Freeze, Tampa, Florida, and Derrell Freeze (sic), Takoma Park. A service of Christian burial was held on March 5 at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joseph F. Ertl, the Rev. Henning Pearson and the Rev. J. David Mumford officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth."

"Robert K. Freeze, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maynard Freeze, of Thurmont, died March 2, at his home in Wadsworth, Ohio, of a heart attack.Bob completed high school in Thurmont in 1939, joined the Air Force and was sent to Hawaii where he was attached to a fighter wing at Wheeler Field which was bombed when the Japanese attacked on December 7, 1941. After the war, Bob went to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he studied to be a teacher. He began teaching in Washington, D. C., before moving to Wadsworth, Ohio. He was married in Maryland before moving to Ohio. He is survived by one son, Tom, two remaining brothers, Darrell of Tacoma Park (sic), and Victor of Tampa, Florida, and a number of relatives in and around Thurmont. Funeral services were held atGrace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wadsworth, Ohio."
