Partial obituary from Diapason Magazine, written by Editor, Frank Kunkle:

Jesse Crawford, probably the most colorful, successful and popular of all the representatives of the golden age of the theatre organ, died May 29 [sic] at Sherman Oaks, Cal, about five weeks before he was to come out of retirement to star at the national convention of the ATOE, following the "international national" in Los Angeles. A heart condition of long standing felled him at the age of 66.

In his heyday as the "poet of the organ" and later with his second wife as "Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Crawford" at the twin consoles: he had an unmatched following among audiences of the great "movie-palaces" and over network radio.

Mr. Crawford grew up in a West Coast orphanage and was self-taught. His widow Lucy, son, and daughter survive him.

A simple memorial service was held May 31 with George Wright playing mainly Jesse Crawford arrangements. The memorial service was held at the Praisewater Mortuary in Van Nuys, just one block from the old Robert Morton pipe organ factory.

Note: According to Dr. John W. Landon's biography "Jesse Crawford: Poet of the Organ; Wizard of the Mighty Wurlitzer,', Jesse Crawford was married four times. His first wife was Gladys Vivian Marney. His second wife was named Olga (Olga Lucille Blow.) His third wife was Helen Anderson. He married Helen July 28, 1923. She died January 15, 1943. His fourth wife was Lucy Peace (Lucy Ellen Gwathmay.) Lucy was married to Edward Peace prior to her marriage to Jesse. Lucy married Jesse Crawford September 3, 1944.

Jesse Crawford had two children (Jeane V. and Howard ) with Olga, and one daughter named Jessica (Jessie) with Helen Anderson Crawford. Jesse's parents were Al Crawford and Dora Welsh.
