Axel Carlson
Rosary will be offered for Axel H. Carlson, 97, of Oregon City, at 6:30 p.m tonight in Holman-Hankins-Rilance chapel. Requiem Mass will be offered Saturday at 10:00a.m in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Donald Dennman officiating. Private burial will be in St.Luke´s Cemetery, Woodburn, for the retired carpenter who died in a local nursing home on Thursday.
Born in Sweden on Sept. 29, 1880, he was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. He moved to Oregon from Nebraska in 1948 and had lived in Sweet Home for 14 years and in Hubbard for eight years before moving to Oregon City in 1962.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth, whom he married April 15 1912, two sons,Bernhard of Oregon City and Harley Carlson of Montana; three daughters, Edna Sowle of Gates, Evelyn Lamplugh of Bend and Sherley Wooleat of Montana; a sister, Elise Lewis of Salem, 23 grand-children, 21 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
