MONROE CITY, Ind. - Kim D. Alton, 55, of Monroe City, passed away at 12:30 p.m. September 11, 2008, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 8, 1953, in Vincennes, Ind., to Paul and Sylvia (Like) Alton.

Kim farmed his entire life and also was a pilot. He enjoyed flying his plane. He was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Owensboro.

Surviving is his wife, Katherine A. (Lewis) Alton, whom he married August 6, 2005; 2 sons, Shannon Alton and his wife, Karista, of Monroe City and Daniel Alton of Monroe City; a daughter, Andrea Alton of Vincennes; stepchildren, Mark Hendricks and his wife, Natalie, of Woodstock, Ill., Joy Watson and her husband, John, of Camanche, Iowa, Kay Raffety and her husband, Matthew, of Plainview, Ill.; 2 brothers, Rick Alton and his wife, Zoe, of Petersburg, Rex Alton and his wife, Rita, of Monroe City; grandchildren, Summer, Austin, Zachary and Samuel Alton; a stepgrandchild, Samuel Hendricks; and mother and father-in-law, John B. and Helen Lewis of Delavan, Ill.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Lindy Alton.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. EDT Saturday, September 13, at Goodwin Funeral Home, with Pastor Ted Christman officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church Mission Fund or the Midwest Theological Seminary.
